Interviewing Woong-ji Cho:

The Importance of Motivation

Woong-Ji Cho, a student from class 2-9 in the department of English and Spanish,
was positioned as a goalkeeper of the Spanish department soccer team in the
2023 Sports Day soccer competition which the department of Spanish won. Since
goalkeeper is a major position in soccer, I decided to interview Woong Ji-Cho about his
opinion of the reason why they won.

Q: Please introduce yourself, what specific role did you play
in the game?

Introducing himself, Woong-Ji Cho said that he played as the goalkeeper,
responsible for defending the goal of the team. He said that he was proud to have
such a major role in the game. Also, he said that he took his role because he had
quick reflexes and agility.

Q: How did you prepare for the obstacles associated with

being a goalkeeper?
Describing more of his role in the game, Woong-Ji Cho talked about the required
skills of his role. He said that goalkeeping requires skills such as agility, quick
reflexes, and fluency in communication with the defense. He said that the team
spent time during lunch breaks and weekends to adjust these aspects. Also, their
training focused on reacting to various game situations.

Q: Were there any crucial moments that led the team toward

winning?

Woong-ji Cho said that they had a gut feeling that they were going to win the
match when the 3rd-grade players scored early in the game. He said that the
certain hope that they were going to win gave him and the team more motivation
to perform at their best. Which ultimately led to winning.

Q: Was there any memorable moments in the game?

Sharing the moment before the match, Woong Ji Cho recalled the time when
he and the team hurdled together and shouted out “Fighting!” before playing
