Recently, Netflix started the Korean version of Money Heist, a famous Spanish drama produced
by Netflix. The Korean version of it is named Money Heist: Joint Economic Area. The synopsis

of the series is almost the same as the original drama. The robbers taking the people at the bank
hostage to steal money with the character called “Professor” assisting them in order to steal
money.
The Korean version of Money Heist: What is the difference from the original one?
In Money Heist: Joint Economic Area. There have been a few changes such as backgrounds and

the settings of the main characters. The most interesting change in the plot was its background. In
the remake drama, the background is set as South Korea is almost at a union with North Korea.
The main characters are robbing the JEA which is the Joint Economic Area of South and North

Korea. Also, there were a few changes to the character’s props such as the mask. The Salvador
Dali mask has changed into a traditional Korean mask named the Hahoe mask.

The reaction after the release is either people will like it or hate it. And this expression is
also a title that unconditionally follows a failed drama. And reviews from review-specialized
YouTubers and websites are also not that good. The main reason why this film failed is that the

remake drama’s storyline is the same as the original one. This is a natural result because in a heist
genre an unexpected twist in the story is the essence of the movie.
Although the drama didn’t succeed greatly, the natural blending of traditional Korean cultures
such as the Hahoi mask, Najeon chilgi, and Samulnori background music is complemented.
