Have you ever heard of the ‘Met Gala’? The ‘Met Gala’ is an annual
fundraising gala held on the first Monday of May every year for the benefit
of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
The official name is ‘Costume Institute Gala’ or ‘Costume Institute Benefit’.
The entire format is that the organizer chooses the subject of the year first.
Then actors, models, and celebs who are invited to the Gala attend in the
form of creative dress-ups according to the theme. The way to attend the
Gala is to purchase a ticket to this or to receive an invitation from a designer
brand. However, not everyone can attend. Only those on the waiting
list selected by Anna Wintour, editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine, in
consideration of the celebrity’s level and reputation are eligible to purchase.
The second way is to receive an invitation from a designer brand. Most
celebrities attend like it. It is a place where many celebrities and talented
people who use it in various fields gather. Therefore, because it is a good
event for large luxury brands to display their clothes and increase the brand’s
artistic and influence, they send invitations to celebrities who match them
or celebrities they want to wear or muses. However, even celebrities who
are invited by designer brands are also considered by Anna Wintour. By the
way, each year, the Met Gala has a theme on which the attendees are told to
base their get-ups on. Then, the best dresser who dressed up according to the
theme, the iconic dresser who dressed up creatively, and the worst dresser
who did not dressed up according to the theme are chosen.
What would it have been in 2022? The Met Gala in 2022 held on May
2nd. The theme this year was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” with
the dress code being “Gilded Glamour.” So, what does “glided glamour”
actually mean? The looks are meant to represent American fashion during
the Gilded Age of the 19th century.
