Sustainability in Trade Policies
As supply chain restructuring unfolds, sustainability and environmental considerations have become
central to policy formulation. South Korea is evaluating measures to manage the carbon footprint of
imported raw materials, aiming to establish eco-friendly supply chains. For instance, in preparation for the
implementation of carbon border taxes, the country is focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in
major industries and adopting processes powered by renewable energy sources.
Challenges and Opportunities
The process of global supply chain realignment presents significant challenges for South Korea. Rising
raw material costs, regional conflicts, and economic bloc formations pose persistent risks. However, these
challenges also present opportunities to explore new markets and create innovative solutions. By securing
supply chain stability and enhancing the global competitiveness of its manufacturing sector, South Korea
has the potential not only to navigate this period of upheaval but also to establish sustainable growth
engines for its economy in the years to come.
