                                                    A worldwide increase in refugees

As time goes by, the number of refugees is gradually
increasing. They take up almost 1.5% of the total population.
According to UNHCR, around 117 million refugees were
registered in 2023. This is the largest number of people ever.
Compared to 10 years ago, its number is almost doubled.

There are multitudinous reasons for refugees. Most
commonly, because of conflict and religious persecution,
they choose to evacuate their country. In the event of war,
regular citizens find it hard to maintain an ordinary life. They
inevitably leave their homeland to live a more guaranteed,
secure life. For instance, 53% of refugees come from Syria,
Afghanistan, and Ukraine. All three countries are ravaged by
war. Syria has been in civil war for 13 years; Afghanistan has
also been at war perpetually since 1978; Ukraine is suffering
in war as well. Not only conflict and persecution but also
abusing human rights could generate refugees. Refugees are
people who want to live a better future. To live a life, people
                                                    require fundamental food and habitat.

These days, climate change is also one of the severe
problems generating refugees. When powerful nations
facilitate excessive development, due to the emission
of carbon dioxide, climate changes worsens. The global
warming problem has deepened. This will intensify natural
disasters, raise sea levels, and cause shortages of water.
A shortage of water will provoke drought too. When these
