Errors in generative AI and the importance of cross-validation
Although generative artificial intelligence is very advanced, there is a high risk of generating
incorrect information due to the hallucination error phenomenon.
For example, AI may generate information that is different from the facts or provide information in
a distorted context. This highlights the importance of digital literacy (the ability to critically evaluate
information and check its accuracy.) Cross-validation is effective in reducing these errors, and it is
necessary for readers to develop the habit of verifying information through various sources.
Chomsky’s Propaganda Model and Media Distortion
Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman presented a propaganda model in 「Public Opinion
Manipulation - Political Economy of Mass Media」…and analyzed the influence of power on news
reporting. Ideological attack is one of the main filtering devices,
and each newspaper reports news differently according to its ideology. Readers must be aware of
this, read news from various perspectives, and analyze it critically.
