This issue has become known from a video that was recently uploaded to community websites. A woman
is assaulting a 60 year old taxi driver in the video. She is trying to throw him over her shoulder, doing some
flying kicks, and using her foot to kick him. He is so embarrassed that he can’t do anything. So, he protects his
body. However, the police officer reported that she doesn’t remember what happen to her and him because she
drink so much. This accident began because she didn’t pay and got out of a taxi. So he asked her to pay the
taxi fare for him. Another example is a taxi driver who was hit by a passenger because he didn’t changed lanes.
The assailant grabs the driver’s collar and bumps his face using his forehead. After, the assailant smashes the
driver’s face many times using his smartphone. The victim took four weeks to heal, and the assailant received
three years in prison. Like this, taxi drivers work in poor surroundings. They work hard in these surroundings
to make money. Most victims are old people in their 50s and 60s.
Not only Korea but also other countries are the same. In Northbridge, Australia a taxi driver was punched, and
bitten by passengers. The passengers allegedly refused to pay for a trip. When the taxi driver said for them to
pay, the passengers started attacking the driver, punching and biting him. Another example happened in San
Francisco. Suddenly, a passenger in the back seat, told him after attacking ‘hey man you’re bleeding you need
to go to the hospital.’ He couldn’t control his mind and in the end he was taken to the E.R. "My passengers in
the back seat, they told me ‘Hey man you’re bleeding you need to go to the hospital',” he recalled. With an eye
swollen shut and blood streaming down his face, Ahmad was taken to the E.R. by ambulance. He later learned
his nose was broken and he'd need surgery.
