Rodrigo Duterte, is he hero or villain?

Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philip-
pines, is receiving attention due to his obsti-
nate policies. Born in Dabaw, Mindanio,
Duterte was a troublemaker. When the pres-

ident was a teenager, he was expelled twice
by the school. However, Duterte was an intel-
ligent man. After graduating law school at
SBCA, San Beda College Alabang, he had
worked for his country as a prosecutor in
Dabaw. Rather then stopping there, he was
willing to go forward in steps. Finally, he became the

mayor of Dabaw and successfully made it the most safe
town in Philippines. This ambitious man eventually be-
came the president of the Philippines June of 2016.
If we focus on this story, we might merely think of him as
a capable, extraordinary politician. However, Duderte
made so many controversial statements that he is being
criticized harshly. Here are some of his most contentious
statements:
During a speech, he praised Adolf Hitler who is known

as one of the worst figures in history. He said, “Hitler massacred three million Jews. Now, there are three
million drug addicts. I'd be happy to slaughter them.” Dutere declared a war against drugs in Philippines.
He said that he will strictly punish those who do drugs. “At least Germany had Hitler. The Philippines
wouldn’t,” he added. It brought severe criticism.
To his martial law army, he said, “It is fine to rape three women per each soldier.” Of course, rape cannot
be justified in any way and it is an obvious crime. Unfortunately, the president disagreed with this idea.
Eventually, organizations for civil rights and women’s rights sharply criticized Duterte’s utterance.

Policies of the president of the Philippines might result in good security and be able to gently influence
the whole country. But Duterte is still making an inhumane statemenst, and is deserved being criticized.
Is it right to give such a shocking speeches in order to make an impression?
