5. Want a miracle? Performance Assessment works wonders! (1st
graders)
OK, so this is not so much of a big secret, but it surely is a vital asset and a last resort for lots
of people. Most of the time (boys being less meticulous than girls, often show this kind of bore-
dom) we disregard mundane tasks, team projects, assignments, and so on and so forth. What
you should keep in mind is that all of these are part of a big picture called the Performance As-
sessment. This means everything you do is being graded and assessed by various teachers.
Pay close attention to what the teacher says about specific hand-in projects and assignments,
and be sure not to forget them. Be absolutely prepared for them and most importantly, try your
very best at everything. Do not, do not, do NOT listen to peers for advice on this type of task.
For this one, you make it by yourself. This is only mentioned because a minority of students
lacks the proper vigilance you should have by now and often let these projects fly by or are un-
cooperative in group projects and even tempt
you to have this same attitude. Here’s the
thing – there’s a reason why they’re called a
hidden weapon. Even if you performed rather
poorly in exams, these assignments you have
handed in diligently later cover up your slight
mistakes and result in higher grades than you
anticipated initially. This comes as a great sur-
prise gift at the end of the semester. Miracles
do happen, for these often influence the subject rank on your report card but in a positive
way. Miracles will truly happen if you prepare yourself for such assignments and be diligent in
every task; this is precisely why you have to prepare for a diligent schedule during the winter
vacation in the first place!
These were some pointers for a well-spent winter vacation for high school students of IFLHS.
As crude as they may seem, all of these are from precious experiences from the last consec-
utive two years which weren’t admittedly spent as frugal and diligent as depicted above. But
truly, all of these are small tips to keep in mind, and what is more important than all of these is
making this short period of time into a truly golden one with your own hands. It will be tough,
and it surely will be a pain in the neck, but practice makes perfect. By the end of the winter va-
cation and the beginning of a new semester, you’ll find yourself all ready and prepared for the
days to come!
