What the Students who Study in Germany
Said about Studying in Germany
Q1. Please introduce yourselves simply.
My name is Hwajung Park. I am Mijung’s older sister and I’m 21 years old. I major in piano. I am so curious so I
enjoy traveling.
I am Hongsick kim. I’m 26 years old and actually I am a Hwajung’s boyfriend. I study at the computer engineering
in Technical University of Bruanschweig. I am a music lover so I go to rock festival every year. I love traveling either.
Q2. Where do you live now?
Hwajung : I have a homestay in Bremen. I live with my piano teacher’s family who are 3rd generation Germans. I
can learn German culture and language easily.
Hongsick : I live in Braunschweig. It is located in Niedersachsen and is about two hours from Berlin. It is a very small
but nice place.
Q3. What made you go to Germany?
Hwajung : I suddenly thought as I prepared for are recital, “How about learning in the place where Bach, Beethoven,
and Brahms were born?” I didn’t know anything about studying overseas, but I wanted a challenge. I was curious
about how well I could express myself through music as I fully understood the culture and history of the composer’s
country. I realize now. It was the best choice. Their music contains weather, mood, culture and everything.
Hongsick : I had a lot of time to think aboutthings while I enlisted in the army. Those are all about my future. I realized
that school life in Korea is not that suitable for me. After I was discharged, I had to back to schooI, but it didn’t want
to back to a system that requires so much money and effort to get a good score. Especially after I knew that I would
have no guarantee of employment even after I graduate my desire to study abroad was growing. Realistically, it
was expensive to go to America or to UK, so I thought going to Germany was the best way for me, because there
were no educational expenses at all. German technical universities are well-known ; around the world and I could
learn practically because of the many industries located around the college. After I considered all this, I decided to
go to Germany.
Q4. What is your goal?
- Hongsick : My personal goal is to be employed by a German company after I finish postgraduate school. Though
diplom as of the previous five-year university system have been divided into bachelor’s courses for 3 years and
master’s courses for 2 years these days, but yet many companies tend to recognize students only if they attend
classes for 5 years.
Q5. What is the biggest difference between Korea and Germany?
- Hongsick : I think the difference is composure. It is hard to see composure in Korea these days. With studying,
working, and meeting my friends, my week flowed quickly. Therefore, I had to run not to miss a single bus and I was
