Lonzo Ball : Under the shade of his father

Lonzo Ball, a rookie basketball player of NBA this year, is under the shade of his father. It does not
mean that his skills are less great than his father.
Lonzo Ball was drafted with the second pick by the LA Lakers in 2017, and is carrying the gust with his
great skills during the summer league. However, despite his talented skills, many people see Lonzo Ball

with hostility. It is because of his father, LaVar Ball. LaVar Ball, father of Lonzo Ball, was an American
football player. Unfortunately, he did not succeed as a football
player. But he successfully bred his son as a high-level bas-
ketball player. So why is he being condemned from the peo-
ple? It is because of comments he is making. Since Lonzo
Ball gained popularity as a rising star in High School League,
he started to appear in the press and made awful statements

against great players in NBA. Here are some of the com-
ments he made:
“I have the utmost confidence in what my boy is doing. He’s
better than Steph Curry to me. Put Steph Curry on UCLA’s
team right now and put my boy on Golden State and watch
what happens.” -Stephen Curry is the most outstanding
player now in the NBA. Nobody agrees with LaVar’s idea.
Rather, they think that Lonzo Ball must endeavor harder to
catch up to what Stephen Curry has done from now on.

“Maybe he doesn’t have the relationship that me and ‘Zo got.
And I don’t think he did. First of all, ya mom wasn’t there, so
something’s got to change right there. It’s not the same.
Lonzo can come home and see his mom all the time.”-Kyrie
Irving, top guard player in NBA, expressed criticism against LaVar Ball’s attitude. And Mr.Ball responded
with a very rude comment.
Why is LaVar Ball is making such comments? Frankly speaking, it is for noise marketing. He launched

“Big Baller Brand”, which is an athletic apparel inspired by the Ball Brothers. His intention was successful.
However, some say that it becomes a burden for Lonzo Ball. A few people claim that LaVar Ball’s state-
ments went beyond the ethical boundary.
