IFLHS Soccer Fiesta

To select the team which goes into the finals, a game between the Japanese department
and the Chinese department took place on May 8. The Spanish department went to the
final game by default. After class, all 22 players and 5 referees participated in the semi-
final. Although there were not many spectators, all of the players played hard. The power
of the Japanese department was inferior. They fought hard against the Chinese depart-
ment, but the Chinese department won, scoring three points in the first half, and one
point in the latter half. At the end, the Chinese department went into the finals.
On May 10, the final match was held. Until dawn, it was raining, so a lot of students
were worried about whether the match would be held or not. Fortunately the sun came
up soon. After, the athletics, the soccer match between the Spanish department and
the Chinese department was held. At the beginning, the ground was so wet that the
players could not run well. But, before long, the ground got dry.
The game kicked off on time. Nobody could anticipate the winner of this game because
the fire power of two teams was too similar to choose. But against everyone’s expecta-
tions, the players of the Chinese department performed better than the players of the
Spanish department in the first half. In full vigor, the Chinese department drove their
competitor to the wall. The hero of the first goal was Geonho Tak in the Chinese de-
partment. The goal and he made their supporters enthusiastic, but the supporters of
the Spanish department silent. Subsequently, Jeong-yeon Lim in the Chinese depart-
ment made a score. In the chance of free-kick, he kicked the ball to the corner and the
enthusiasm of the Chinese department kept going.
And then, the second half began. The atmosphere of the game was different from the
first half. The offense and defense between two teams was so intense. In the middle of
the second half, the Spanish department started to counteract. Geonho Choi in the
Spanish department passed the ball to Yoosin Kim at the side of ground. He succeeded
in scoring, shaking the side net. And they started to have a better position. Finally,
Yoosin Kim scored a goal off his head, receiving Woojin Jeong’s assist from a throw-in.
At first, the sub-referee said that it was a foul of pushing goalkeeper. But in the end, the
referees allowed the goal and they had to finish the game in a penalty shoot-out.
All of the shooters succeeded in making a goal except Seunghoon Park in the Chinese
department. Eventually, the Spanish department beat their opponent five to four in the
penalty shoot-out. A lot of supporters of the Chinese department could not hide their
disappointment. This game made all of the students excited and, everyone thinks, it
was so interesting that they cannot forget.
