What influenced the ruling?
In the United States, abortion is one of the main issues that separates progressive from conservative. Fifty
years ago, seven progressive and two conservative justices ruled that abortion was a woman's right under
the Constitution. But now, six out of nine Supreme Court justices are conservative. This is expected to have
had a major impact on the ruling.
How will this affect the United States in the future?
In a national speech, President Biden said, 'The Supreme Court brought our country back 150 years. Today
is a very sad day for the courts and the United States,' he said, expressing his opinion on the new law. On
the contrary, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the new abortion law in an interview with Fox. Also,
former vice president Mike Pence who criticized Roe v. Wade for long, supported the new abortion law too.
On the one hand, the new abortion law is expected to have a major impact on politics and the economy and
will cause major political divisions.
