What is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is the annual Haute Couture
fashion event held in the first week of May
to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum
of arts’ Costume Institute. This event has
been held since 1948 and more than 10
million dollars are raised every single year.
Celebrities around the world wear their
dresses from luxury designers and perform
on the red carpet. Besides their luxury
costumes, all celebrities also have to pay
about 30,000 dollars to this show, and their
admission lists are kept secret until the day
before the carpet.
One of the biggest features which made
the Met Gala famous will be its special
theme of costume. Celebrities often wear
dresses which were from old collections or
made as custom designs. Also, co-hosts
vote for the best dressed stars after the
party. Besides Zendaya and other stars,
Tyla, who wore a sand dress especially took
center stage. In addition, k-pop stars such
as Jennie and Straykids also attended the
Met Gala this time.
