7. Supply Chain
A fast and agile supply chain with end-to-end visibility is predicted to be implemented through various
platforms. Logistics companies focusing on solutions and platforms are expected to widen the gap
rapidly between them and legacy logistics companies reliant on capital and infrastructure.
8. Ripple Effect of China-US Trade War
The repercussions of the US-China trade conflict, intensified since 2019, are anticipated to continue
affecting the logistics industry beyond 2020. Despite China distancing itself from
the image of the world's factory, it remains a significant recipient of foreign direct
investment (FDI), particularly in cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong.
In response to these challenges, the Korean context emphasizes the importance
of supply chain risk management, considering geopolitical uncertainties, natural
disasters, and external factors affecting global supply chains. The need for
reshaping supply chains and efficient crisis management strategies is underscored
in scenarios like the US-China trade war, the trade dispute between South Korea and
Japan, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
This reflects the ongoing trend of reshoring and diversification in the supply chain to mitigate risks and
adapt to changing global dynamics. Overall, these trends underscore the critical role of technology and
adaptability in the evolving landscape of the logistics industry.
