Age of Internet of Things(IoT)

Today is Monday. The traffi c is backed up, so you have to get up approximately 20 minutes earlier,
or you’ll be late to school. Receiving the information, your smartphone rings the alarm 20 minutes
prior to the originally set time, and the lights turn on to wake you. Thank the phone and lights; you get

to school at the right time.
You might wonder what this scene is all about. This is not a part of a science fi ction fi lm. Soon, most
objects around you will be able to share information, connected by the Internet, and you’ll live a whole
new life. The era of Internet of Things has begun.

What is the Internet of Things?

The Internet of Things is basically the concept
of connecting any device to the Internet. It is

considered as a new way of communication

Until humans invented the Internet of Things,
all devices linked together required human
control to exchange their information. But
now, without an operator, they can share their
information and communicate with each other

only by themselves using Bluetooth, NFC(near
fi eld communication) technology, sensor data, or
network.

Unlike humans who can talk for a whole
day only with a simple topic, things need
much more technology to interact. They need
a channel to trade their correspondence and
a language between the devices- sensing

technology, network infrastructures like wire
and wireless communications, IoT service
interface technology are the answers. Utilizing
these technologies, objects can exchange their physical sensing information such as their temperature,
humidity, location or heat.
