of sea life. Residents and fishing workers are also expressing concerns about
health problems in areas near to radioactive contaminated water discharge.
Nearby countries and international organizations, including Korea, are
reaching an agreement on the Fukushima discharge fishing and seeking
countermeasures to minimize health and environmental impacts.
The Japanese government should recognize the importance of transparency
and open discussion on the discharge, and actively collect opinions from the
international community of concern. It is imperative to make the best decisions
by strengthening international cooperation based on scientific research and
realistic data. Against this backdrop, the Fukushima nuclear power plant's
discharge of contaminated water is recognized internationally as a problem that
requires objective and balanced evaluation and the search for alternatives. The
international community must strive to find appropriate countermeasures that
can minimize environmental, health, and social impacts through continuous
interest and research. In this process, mutual cooperation and strengthening of
interests in the international community will lead to effective solutions.
