THE ZODIAC KILLER
Have you ever heard of the Zodiac Killer? The Zodiac Killer is the alias of an unidentified serial killer
who operated in Northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Zodiac’s name comes
from a series of taunting letters and cryptograms that were sent to local newspapers, in which the
killer identified himself as “Zodiac”. The killer's crimes included a series of murders, attempted
murders, and taunting letters sent to local newspapers. The FBI believes that this killer has been
responsible for at least five murders, although the killer himself sent a letter claiming that he has
killed as many as 37 people. The case has been described as the most famous unsolved murder
case in American history.
The murder began on December 20, 1968. A couple was murdered while dating
quietly at Lake Herman Road outside Benisha, California, when they were only 17
and 16 years old. Police identified the bodies of the two and immediately began
an investigation, but could not find any clues. However, about six months later, in
the parking lot of a golf course,
the Zodiac Killer fired two bullets
at another couple who were
dating. And the phone rang at the nearby police
station, and soon a man who called said: “I just shot
a couple playing at Blue Rock Golf Course. I’m the
one who did what happened at Herman Road last
December. You guys can't catch me.” A few weeks
later, three local newspapers in San Francisco
received three mysterious handwritten letters from
the killer.
Taxi driver Paul Stein, known as Zodiac's last victim,
was shot in the front of the head. The Zodiac
killer ripped Stein's shirt before leaving the crime
scene and disappeared with the shirt drenched
in blood. At the time, when police searched the
neighborhood, they saw a suspicious person, but
lost sight of the black man the witness said. Shortly
