Q. How about the university festival and Koyeonjeon?
A. Korea University holds a 5 day festival. During the Daedongje (Great Winter Festival, Monday-
Thursday), college life is same as usual during the day, but it changes in the evening, because
the festival starts at that time. Every day entertainers visit for their performance or concert,
many various departments and clubs open bars and lots of food trucks come. I enjoy it with
my classmates, but students from other universities can also join together, so I think there
are many cases to invite high school friends who are going to other universities to enjoy it
together. On IPSELENTI (Friday), cheering ceremonies, performances and concerts are repeated
throughout that day. I think that this festival is one of way to actually feel the romance of college
during my college life. Koyeonjeon is held in September, so I didn't have any chance to join yet.
Q. How about the food of Korea University's cafeteria?
A. I don't have any idea because I've never had a chance. There are lots of restaurants around us,
so most students go to restaurants, thus there are few cases to go to cafeteria. In the case of
liberal arts college, the restaurant is very close to the cafeteria. I heard that science students
often go to the cafeteria, but I think there are many reviews that the menu is not big and it is
not too delicious.
Q. What is the most exciting experience after you entered Korea University?
A. I think that cheering events were the most exciting for example cheering OT and joint cheering
event. There are many different kinds of cheering songs besides well-known 'Aria of the Nation'.
Learning cheering songs and the culture of standing together and cheering for each other,
regardless of senior-junior and departments, made me feel belonging, union, and passion. This
experience can be had only at university, so I think it is very special.
Q. If you enter the Department of International Studies at Korea University, what you can do after
graduation?
I
A. think it can be divided into corporate employment, government agency, international
organization and law school. The job is directly related to the major may be a diplomat or an
international public servant (including government organizations such as the United Nations as
well as KOICA and NGO organizations). I think that many students have dual major in economics
or management and enter a company. Also there are lots of cases of going to domestic and
foreign law schools and then they work as lawyers.
Q. What is difficult because most classes are held in English?
A. If you are going to the Department of International Studies, all major lectures proceed in
English. I went to an international school when I was in middle school, so I didn't have much
difficulty, but it was not easy to write academic content in English because the question was
presented in the form of an essay. However, I think one advantage is that you can greatly
improve your English skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing during your college
life. Especially anyone who plans to work by using English in the future, it may be difficult for
freshmen but it will be very helpful for them at the time when they graduate.
